For every tonne of waste glass used in a furnace there is a saving of 1.2 tonnes of primary raw materials. This reduces quarrying for sand and limestone which contributes to the preservation of our natural countryside and lessens the load on landfills - helping communities avoid expensive disposal costs.
Using recycled glass can also cut production costs overall, as the minimal consumption of raw materials, lowering energy demands, and increasing the life of furnaces and equipment. Finally, the recycling process is based around a ‘Closed-Loop’ system, in which no by-products or waste is produced.
